Alpinis - An Overview

The collapse of Communism over a decade ago has been deeply disorienting and spiritually overwhelming for many. The pressures of low income and unemployment are growing realities in Romania.

The Evangelical church in Romania struggles to offer a real alternative to the young generation. Through the Alpinis Project, we are willing to step out and accept people as they are, inviting them to learn about and know God personally. There are so many people who need to experience the reality of the Infinite God.

Vision

Alpinis seeks to address the needs of teenagers, adults, pastors and Christian workers of various backgrounds. A retreat, where away from the daily pressures, they will grow closer to God. Alpinis will provide an environment where relationships between people of all backgrounds are nurtured and strengthened so that they may go out and be the persons God calls them to be.

The goals of Alpinis are evangelism, spiritual enrichment, building community and relationships, and service as an arm of the local church. These goals will be pursued through a multifunctional center consisting of a conference center, dining room, recreation stations, and accommodations for up to 200 people. The facilities will be managed by professionally trained staff.

Location

Romania is well positioned both geographically and culturally making such a ministry almost a responsibility to the countries around us. The third largest Evangelical community in Europe resides in Romania.

The location of Alpinis is crucial to its function and affects our ability to serve people across the country. God has enabled us to purchase property only 4 miles away from the Paltinis mountain resort, at approximately 4,000 ft. altitude. This is an area of breathtaking beauty with views of the mountains and forests, in the Carpathian Mountains.

Leadership

The Alpinis Project really expresses the vision of the team of Missio Link International (MLI) to reach the young generation in Romania. Alongside other social projects and church partnering efforts, the people of MLI have understood God's call for this new ministry in Romania.

Pastor Eugen Groza, Emil Toader and others from MLI have worked together as a team in the area of church partnerships, youth camps, and evangelism since 1994. God has blessed us with the opportunity of seeing the Christian work across the nation and listening to many sharing their struggles, joys and their ministry needs. Many have expressed the need for a place like Alpinis.

A special role in the vision of Alpinis is that of Mr. Alec Woodhull from USAffairs/Romania Ministries - representing MLI in the United States.
